Child
Development
“Children need encouragement like plants need water.”
— Rudolf Dreikurs

Every parent wishes for their child to achieve, be successful, confident and healthy. In the modern world there are many distractors, social media, influencers that sadly may harm our children's development.
Through Karate, we aim to develop four fundamental qualities:
Resilience
Determination
Confidence
Self-Discipline
Developing Character
As children grow, they benefit from life experiences and teaching that helps them to develop these qualities.
Through our approach to teaching Karate, we provide a powerful setting to develop character. We provide opportunities to encounter meaningful experiences and receive support. We challenge children to develop social skills, such as the simple task of expecting higher grades learn the names of everyone in their class. Set as a simple game (obviously with press-ups for getting it wrong!) we demonstrate the importance of knowing a name whilst making every member known and feel a valued member of the club.
It has been shown that when deliberate teaching moments are created, as opposed to simply exposing students to situations, they are far more likely to develop. (Holt et al., 2017; Williams et al., 2022).
